What counts against a quota
Only a record lookup against the register counts. Format and check-digit validation is free and unmetered at every tier, checking your own remaining quota does not count, and a lookup that finds nothing does not count either.
Tax
Prices are shown tax-inclusive. ¥4,980 is what you are charged; ¥453 of that is consumption tax, so the net is ¥4,527.
When you need a licence
Displaying register data inside your own product is included in a paid plan; clause 4 of the terms asks you to carry the National Tax Agency attribution near it, and that is all. A licence is for when the register data is itself what you sell — your customers buy Japan coverage from you. Bulk dumps and an SLA are licensed too. Terms depend on volume, which endpoints are in scope, and how far the data travels.
Common questions
Can I stay on the free tier?
Validation is free and unmetered for good. Register lookups are capped at roughly 1,000 a month; past that you need Standard.
Do I need a card to start?
Not for the free tier. Keys are issued the moment you sign in.
Can a sole trader subscribe?
Yes. There is no requirement to be a company.
Do invoices carry a qualified invoice number?
Not currently. Get in touch if you need one and we will tell you where that stands.
