Privacy Policy
What personal information we collect, and what we do with it.
The Japanese version is the operative text. This translation is provided for convenience; where the two differ, the Japanese governs.
What we collect
Account information. Your email address, at sign-up. We do not collect your name, postal address or telephone number.
Authentication. Sign-in is handled by Amazon Cognito. Passwords are managed there and we never hold your password.
Usage. Monthly lookup counts per API key, and the date each key was last used. We do not store the content of individual requests — the numbers you look up are not retained.
Payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers.
Analytics, only with consent. See below.
Why we use it

- to send you important notices about the Service
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties except as required by law.
Analytics
This website may use Google Analytics.
It is off by default. No cookies are set and no analytics data is sent unless you explicitly consent. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded.
If you consent, Google sets a cookie and collects information such as which pages you view and how long you stay. IP addresses are anonymised.
To withdraw consent, remove daichodo.analytics-consent from your browser's
localStorage.

Register data
The Service ingests and normalises what the National Tax Agency publishes on its qualified-invoice-issuer and corporate-number sites. This section is about information concerning businesses listed in those registers — not about you as a user of the Service.
What we hold

We do not hold sole traders' names or addresses. The NTA strips those fields
from the download data it publishes, and we do not use the approval-gated
Web-API that would supply them. In our responses, name for a sole trader is
always null.
Position under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information
A sole trader's registration number contains no name in itself. But searching that number on the NTA's public site returns one. It may therefore be information that can be readily cross-referenced with other information to identify a specific individual (APPI Article 2(1)).
We treat it on that assumption:
- it is used only for lookup, validity checking and change notification
- it is never used for advertising, profiling, or identity resolution
- we do not enrich it by combining it with other sources beyond what is published
Correction and deletion
Requests to correct or remove a register entry itself must go to the National Tax Agency. We ingest what they publish, so anything changed on our side is restored by the next load. Correction at the source is the only effective route.

Stripe and Google involve transfer outside Japan.
Retention
Account information is kept while the account exists. After cancellation it is deleted, except where law requires it to be retained.

To request disclosure, correction, suspension of use or deletion of your personal information, contact hello@daichodo.com. We will verify your identity and respond promptly.
Changes
Changes to this policy will be posted on the Service.
